Iran launched two explosive drones on Monday into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, specifically targeting the office of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani alongside a senior local security official, according to the region’s Counter-Terrorism Service.

The statement detailed that the two Hadid-110 explosives-laden drones were fired from the border area with Iran shortly following midnight. The second bomb struck the residence belonging to the director of the Parastin intelligence agency located in the Pirmam district of Erbil.

Fortunately, authorities reported no human casualties or significant damage resulting from the strikes. These incidents represent the newest developments in a sequence of cross-border attacks that have escalated following the outbreak of the Iran war in late February.

Historically, Iran and its proxies within Iraq have frequently directed attacks at US troops and the consulate in Erbil, in addition to regional infrastructure. Condemning the event in the strongest terms, the service stated that these assaults are unacceptable in any form and emphasized that those accountable bear full responsibility for the consequences.
