A recent survey reveals that a record number of registered voters in the United States strongly oppose the war on Iran, with a majority believing the administration lacks a coherent strategy for resolution. According to the Fox News poll published on Thursday, 71 percent of voters stated that President Donald Trump's administration lacks a clear plan to end the hostilities, which have contributed to rising inflation and surging fuel prices.
Released just ahead of the start of in-person voting for the upcoming US midterm elections in November, the poll highlights growing political fallout. The unpopular military engagement has driven the disapproval rating for President Donald Trump’s overall performance to 61 percent. Conducted in mid-September, the survey indicates that over 60 percent of voters now view military action against Iran as the wrong decision, marking a new high.
Concerns regarding national security have also escalated. Forty-seven percent of registered voters expressed belief that the conflict diminishes long-term US security, an increase from 39 percent in April, whereas only 32 percent felt the country would be safer.
As early voting for the mid-term elections spans six weeks, control of both the US House of Representatives and the Senate is at stake. Democratic majorities in Congress could potentially shift the direction of President Donald Trump’s remaining two years in office. In response to these political challenges, President Donald Trump has sought to modify voting procedures by attempting to restrict mail ballots, pressuring election officials for sensitive voter data, and launching a federal investigation into non-citizen voters. Furthermore, the Republican leader has pledged a $5,000 financial payout to every adult US citizen should his party maintain control of both legislative chambers.
