President Sheikh Mohamed and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone call on Friday to discuss strategies for further strengthening the deep-rooted relations between their nations. The leaders reviewed ongoing efforts to expand bilateral ties—which span over five0 years—under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement established between the UAE and India.

During the call, President Sheikh Mohamed extended birthday greetings to Mr Modi, wishing him continued good health and success in driving India's progress and fulfilling the aspirations of its people, according to state news agency Wam. Mr Modi, who has served as prime minister for over 12 years, turned 76 on Thursday. He expressed gratitude for the warm sentiments and stated his commitment to maintaining close cooperation with President Sheikh Mohamed for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The conversation also encompassed several topics of mutual interest, with a primary emphasis on enhancing regional security and stability. India and the UAE share a decades-long alliance originating from the formation of the Emirates, with the UAE currently hosting approximately four million Indian citizens, making them the largest expatriate community in the country.

The signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2022 marked the first Cepa for the Emirates, driving bilateral trade past $85 billion and establishing India as the UAE's largest trading partner, while positioning the UAE as India's third-largest trading partner. President Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Modi maintain regular communication through phone calls and frequent visits, reinforcing their robust bilateral partnership across multiple sectors.
