The UAE has officially achieved strategic partner status within the Pacific Islands Forum, marking a significant milestone in the nation's regional engagement alongside 12 other global powers. This development was finalized during a gathering in Koror, Palau, on September 18.

By joining this group, the UAE sits alongside established strategic partners including China, the US, France, Germany, the UK, Canada, Japan, India, Indonesia, and the EU. This new diplomatic tier is anticipated to generate fresh avenues for trade, investment, and corporate alliances, alongside collaborative knowledge sharing in sectors like the energy transition, digital transformation, and connectivity.

This elevation highlights an extended history of collaboration between the UAE and small island developing states throughout the Pacific, centered primarily on renewable energy, climate resilience, education, and sustainable development.

Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, attended the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders' Meeting as the representative of President Sheikh Mohamed. Ms Al Kaabi noted that this official recognition builds upon years of close collaboration rooted in mutual respect and a dedication to sustainable development, emphasizing its significance for the UAE's regional relationships.

Omar Shehadeh, envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Caribbean and Pacific States, stated that attaining strategic partner status establishes new pathways for collaboration with Pacific nations, enhances connectivity, and advances mutual objectives for a resilient and prosperous future, guided by the leadership's vision.
