The office of Masrour Barzani, prime minister of Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government, was targeted in a drone attack early Monday, according to the region's security agency, which confirmed there were no casualties.

The statement also noted that the residence of the head of the semi-autonomous Iraqi region's security and intelligence agency was similarly targeted by drones. According to the agency, the attacks originated from Iranian territory, though it did not specify whether the drones successfully struck their targets.

The Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Service stated via Iraq's state news agency that "two Hadid-110 drones targeted the private office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the residence of the Security Directorate," confirming that no injuries occurred.

In a message posted on X, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani strongly condemned the incident, calling it "illegitimate and unacceptable." He further added, "This is a dangerous step and a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region."

Historically, Iran and Iran-aligned armed groups have frequently accused Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region of sheltering Iranian Kurdish opposition groups that Tehran views as a security threat. However, Iraqi Kurdish authorities consistently deny permitting their territory to be utilized for threatening neighboring countries.
