Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty announced that the upcoming Alamein Africa Forum will act as a vital pan-African platform. The event will unite the private sector, investment and financial institutions, and representatives from diverse productive and service sectors to foster direct business connections and drive cross-border partnerships.
Abdelatty shared these insights during a meeting with African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) President George Elombi at the Foreign Ministry headquarters. Their discussions focused on preparations for Egypt hosting the Alamein Africa Forum in El Alamein on October 2-3. The leaders also reviewed plans for the summit of the founding member states of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) on October 3 and the eighth African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting on October 4.
Highlighting Egypt's dedication to boosting continental economic cooperation, Abdelatty emphasized that the forum stems from an African Union Summit decision in February 2026 to hold the event biennially in El Alamein. He noted that the high-level gatherings are projected to attract significant presidential attendance alongside prominent business leaders.
Afreximbank President George Elombi underscored the forum's critical role in advancing intra-African trade, investment, and sustainable development. Following their talks, Abdelatty and Elombi hosted a joint press conference to detail the preparations and core sessions for the upcoming events.
