Qatar is serving as the central hub for a renewed diplomatic push between Tehran and Washington, delivering Iran's conditions for ending the war as Iranian officials signal openness to negotiations while warning they remain prepared for further conflict.

Iran's conditions for re-engaging in talks have already been relayed to Washington via Qatar, according to Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, who noted that Tehran is now awaiting a response from U.S. President Donald Trump. Rezaei confirmed in comments made to Al Jazeera on September 19 that consultations with Doha remain active.

Rezaei stated that these conditions include the release of frozen Iranian assets, the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade, an end to attacks on Iranian territory, refraining from interference in Iran's internal affairs, and bringing the war to an end across all fronts, including Lebanon. He later reinforced the message in a post on X, emphasizing that Iran had presented Washington with seven conditions for entering any negotiations, arguing that the U.S. must recognize Iran's stated rights to avoid further escalation.

Furthermore, Rezaei warned that Iran is preparing for a decisive war if fighting escalates, noting that Tehran has studied U.S. military weaknesses and focused its planning on U.S. naval assets across the Gulf, Gulf of Oman, and Arabian Sea, alongside American bases and commercial interests in the region.

Addressing nuclear matters, the official stated that Tehran has not decided to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, though he cautioned that increased U.S. pressure could alter that stance, while confirming that Iran continues to honor the religious decree 'Fatwa' prohibiting nuclear weapons. Rezaei also touched upon the war in Yemen, denying direct Iranian involvement and offering mediation, while describing decisions regarding the Bab al-Mandeb Strait as a Yemeni matter.

Efforts by Qatar and Pakistan to restore negotiations continue following the expiration of the previous U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding in August, with Doha facilitating the latest exchanges as Tehran awaits a formal U.S. response.
