Iran's security chief, Mohsen Rezaei, has outlined Tehran's latest set of conditions to end the ongoing conflict with the United States. In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, Rezaei stated that these terms were communicated to Washington via Qatari mediators, emphasizing that Tehran feels more battle-tested now than during the initial weeks of the war that began in late February following joint US-Israeli strikes.

“We will confront America with greater force, and with more numerous and more painful strikes,” Rezaei warned, noting that full-scale fighting has paused for months but a lasting peace remains distant following the expiration of a June 17 memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Amid rising attacks around the Strait of Hormuz—effectively closed by Iran—and a US blockade of southern ports, oil prices have surpassed $100. Al Jazeera's Tohid Asadi, reporting from Tehran, noted that Iran continues to project a dual message combining diplomatic openness with readiness for further conflict.

Rezaei detailed the core conditions required by Tehran to end hostilities:

  • An end to the war on all fronts, specifically highlighting Lebanon.
  • The release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian funds.
  • An immediate halt to the naval blockade on Iranian ports.
  • A cessation of US interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
  • An end to US cooperation with opponents of the Iranian revolution.
  • An halt to all US attacks on Iranian territory.

“It is in Washington’s interest to accept these conditions. Trump’s threats will not achieve any results. We are prepared for a decisive war,” Rezaei stated. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reaffirmed this position, declaring that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until US commitments are fully met.

Experts like Adel Abdel Ghafar of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute pointed out that while the core demands closely mirror the expired June MoU, the current delivery channel through Qatar represents a strategic public push to put pressure on Washington ahead of upcoming political cycles. Meanwhile, the US has yet to officially respond, though President Donald Trump cut short a trip to Camp David as security alerts were issued across the region.
