The Dubai community is preparing for a massive turnout on Saturday to help pack 10 million meals for vulnerable civilians in Gaza during a major humanitarian event dedicated to the memory of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid.

Named the Ahmed bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge, this initiative represents the latest phase in the UAE's ongoing commitment to providing essential aid to Palestinians affected by extended conflict. Organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives in collaboration with Operation Gallant Knight—the UAE's dedicated humanitarian campaign for Gaza—the relief event will take place at Dubai World Trade Centre.

This effort follows a period of mourning in Dubai following the passing of Sheikh Ahmed, who was the brother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Ahmed served as deputy chairman of Dubai Police and group chairman of ARM Holding, a UAE private investment firm. He also made significant contributions to the nation's sports sector by establishing Jebel Ali Racecourse in 1990 and serving as president of Al Wasl Sports Club.

While a US-backed ceasefire in October 2025 reduced large-scale hostilities in Gaza, ongoing air strikes and widespread displacement continue to cause severe food, water, and healthcare shortages.

In addition to the meal packing drive, the UAE recently launched a major winter clothing initiative aiming to support one million people in the Gaza Strip. The Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has already delivered crucial winter supplies, complementing ongoing shipments of food, shelter materials, and water tankers sent through the UAE Humanitarian Aid Logistics Centre in Al Arish, Egypt.
