According to a report by Iranian news agency ISNA on Thursday, all flights operated by Iranian airlines to the United Arab Emirates have been canceled, effective at midnight. This drastic step follows the implementation of a rigorous new package of US sanctions targeting the Iranian aviation sector, which came into effect on Wednesday.
The Trump administration has committed to halting all operations of Iranian carriers and intends to penalize any entity that conducts business with them. Announced on Monday as part of broader measures against Iran’s aviation industry, these newly enacted sanctions reflect ongoing US efforts to ramp up economic pressure on Iran.
Additionally, the Civil Aviation Organization of Islamic Republic of Iran announced to local state media that airports in Baghdad and Muscat will also cease receiving Iranian flights starting from midnight.
