Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held discussions on Friday, September 25, 2026, with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi to address bilateral relations alongside the Iran crisis, the Red Sea, and Bab al-Mandeb developments. The high-level meeting occurred on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nader Zaki stated that the talks covered ways to deepen historical ties and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors between Egypt and Oman. Particular focus was placed on economic partnership, trade, and ongoing strategic consultations concerning regional and international challenges.

Addressing regional security, Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized the critical need for de-escalation, safeguarding freedom of navigation under international law, and supporting Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and stability. Both officials reviewed the ongoing Iranian crisis and discussed diplomatic efforts led by Oman and Egypt to protect maritime trade, secure energy supplies, and promote stability in the Strait of Hormuz.
