Palestinian group Hamas has strongly condemned the Board of Peace’s decision to exclude the United Nations agency for Palestinians, UNRWA, from any role in Gaza, calling it a complete alignment with Israeli positions. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated on Saturday that the US-created Board's move aims to dismantle UNRWA operations, halt aid delivery, and eliminate the right of return.
The Board of Peace stated on Friday that UNRWA's involvement in Gaza is unchanged, noting it would only work with trusted partners contributing to a deradicalized Strip. Qassem criticized the council for adopting a hostile stance while failing to deliver aid or enforce ceasefire compliance, amidst ongoing violence.
Meanwhile, amid ongoing regional tensions and continued military actions across the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, the future of humanitarian efforts remains uncertain as officials debate the operational viability of UNRWA and other international agencies in the region.
