Police in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have launched a manhunt for suspects following a deadly shooting that left four people dead and four others wounded near the capital of Kingstown. Authorities suspect the incident is linked to ongoing gang violence in the Caribbean nation.

Acting Commissioner of Police Trevor Bailey stated during a Saturday news conference that officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Green Hill community of Central Kingstown on Friday night. Authorities discovered two bodies on the public road, a female's body inside a parked vehicle, and a fourth body on an adjacent piece of land. A preliminary examination confirmed that all four victims suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

Four additional individuals were transported to Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for treatment. While two victims were treated and discharged, two others remained hospitalized on Saturday. Assistant Commissioner of Police Brenton Smith reported that no arrests have been made and the motive remains under investigation.

The tragic incident unfolds as law enforcement authorities grapple with a rise in gang violence and retaliatory attacks between rival factions. Police records indicate that 37 homicides have been documented in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines this year. In response, authorities are increasing police patrols, conducting searches, and enhancing intelligence sharing. Bailey also made a direct appeal to young people, urging them to reject criminal activity and violence.
