Volunteers and community members gathered at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Saturday to prepare more than 10 million meals for families and children in Gaza, paying tribute to the enduring legacy of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid.
The Ahmed Bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge event was organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in collaboration with Operation Gallant Knight 3. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, attended the gathering alongside other senior officials.
Recalling the late leader, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed stated that throughout his life, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid stood as a symbol of generosity, humility, and devotion to Dubai and the UAE. Mohammed Al Gergawi, Secretary General of MBRGI, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the late figure's key role in the nation's early development and significant social impact.
This massive food aid effort follows a recent winter clothing drive launched by the UAE to support one million Gazans facing harsh weather and plunging temperatures. As part of this wider relief effort, the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has flown 5,000 winter kits containing 50,000 jackets, blankets, and seasonal essentials.
Operation Gallant Knight 3, which was launched in November 2023 under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed, has provided more than $4 billion in aid to Gaza, accounting for nearly half of all global humanitarian contributions sent to the territory. Overall, the relief efforts have delivered over 126,800 tonnes of supplies utilizing 796 aircraft, 25 cargo ships, and 14,003 trucks. Additionally, MBRGI continues its extensive humanitarian work, having previously partnered with the World Food Programme and pledged significant funds to support healthcare and food security in the region.
