Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, outlined the emirate's ambitious vision on Sunday to establish itself as a premier global hub for healthy longevity while generating a massive boost for the local economy.
During the inaugural meeting of the Dubai Longevity Authority, Sheikh Hamdan reviewed and approved the newly established body's comprehensive strategy and budget. Created in June, the authority is tasked with spearheading initiatives that enable residents to lead longer, healthier lives while mitigating the impact of chronic diseases and cognitive decline.
Highlighting the economic and social advantages of these preventive policies, Sheikh Hamdan shared his insights on X, noting that the strategy projects an annual growth rate of approximately 31 per cent. The initiative aims to inject more than Dh35 billion ($9.53 billion) into the Dubai economy over the upcoming decade through research and development, clinical trials, manufacturing, and global market expansion.
The newly formed authority will focus on building robust frameworks for advanced therapy, preventive intervention, clinical innovation, and ethical practice. Key operational pillars include fostering safe environments for experimentation, attracting high-potential investments, and collaborating with international stakeholders.
Helal Al Marri, director general of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and chairman of the Dubai Longevity Authority, emphasized that the organization is rapidly establishing a competitive regulatory framework. With the approval of the budget and strategy, the authority is well-positioned to accelerate licensed activities, attract institutional investments, and visibly improve both the health span and lifespan of the population.
