The Alexandria Port Authority received the cruise ship MEIN SCHIFF 5 on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Arriving directly from the port of Heraklion in Greece, the vessel brought a total of 3,502 people on board, consisting of 2,560 tourists and 942 crew members. The ship is slated to depart later this evening toward its next destination at the Greek port of Rhodes.

Alexandria Port Spokesperson Ahmed Bereqaa highlighted in an official statement that this visit highlights the steady rise in cruise-ship traffic at the facility. He noted that the trend demonstrates the port's robust capabilities in welcoming various types of cruise vessels while delivering top-tier passenger services.

During their stop, the visitors will participate in a comprehensive tourism itinerary featuring key archaeological and historical landmarks across Alexandria, Cairo, and Giza, encompassing ancient Egyptian, Greco-Roman, and Islamic sites. Additionally, a cycling tour will be arranged for select passengers to experience the distinct atmosphere and sights of Alexandria.

Key officials from the Alexandria Port Authority greeted the vessel upon its arrival. The reception was organized in close coordination with several vital entities, including the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, and Alexandria Governorate alongside its Regional Tourism Promotion Authority.
