Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a meeting on Monday, September 28, 2026, with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg. The discussions focused on the latest developments in Yemen and the broader repercussions for regional security.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nader Zaki noted that Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's firm commitment to supporting Yemen’s unity and safeguarding its legitimate national institutions. He emphasized the necessity of achieving a peaceful resolution to restore stability in the Arab country.

Highlighting the strategic significance of the Red Sea region, the top Egyptian diplomat stressed that Yemen’s stability is vital for broader regional security. Badr Abdelatty also affirmed Egypt's support for all initiatives seeking a comprehensive political settlement that fulfills the aspirations of the Yemeni people and protects the nation's resources.

Furthermore, the Foreign Minister underscored the critical need to maintain freedom of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
