During an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal and called for accountability regarding actions in Gaza.
Speaking on Tuesday, Sheikh Mohammed stated that while the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack must be condemned, it does not justify Israel’s subsequent military campaign in Gaza. He pointed to over 70,000 deaths and the targeting of schools and hospitals, asserting that no argument can justify the ongoing violence.
The Qatari leader also criticized alleged daily violations of the ceasefire that began in October 2025, noting that more than 1,400 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed since the agreement. He stated that approximately 70% of the Strip remains occupied by Israeli forces who are failing to fulfill their commitments.
Discussing diplomatic efforts, Sheikh Mohammed revealed that Doha approached Israeli officials on the first day of the war with a proposal to secure the release of all Israeli civilian captives, but Israel rejected the offer. When asked about a reported warning from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Benjamin Netanyahu prior to October 7, Sheikh Mohammed acknowledged there were many indications of potential escalation.
Addressing allegations regarding American university funding, Sheikh Mohammed dismissed the claims as false and absurd, arguing that Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to deflect attention from his government's actions by targeting journalists, students, and public figures who speak out on Gaza.
Finally, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that mediation remains a cornerstone of Qatar’s foreign policy, noting that regional stability is vital for the nation's progress and that Doha continues maintaining open communication channels with all involved parties.
