President Donald Trump revealed on Wednesday that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the suspected hijacking attempt of a Flydubai jet, praising the passengers for stepping in to subdue the attacker.
“It seems as though the co-pilot was perhaps a terrorist,” President Donald Trump stated to reporters in the Oval Office, noting that Benjamin Netanyahu shared the belief that the hijacker intended to crash the aircraft.
President Donald Trump specifically highlighted the brave intervention of a passenger identified as a “plumber,” who stepped in to help stabilize the jet despite lacking any formal flight training. “Never flew a plane, was rarely in planes,” President Donald Trump remarked. “And having never flown a plane, he took the stick, lifted it up and leveled up the plane before it crashed.”
Expressing amazement at the passenger's resourcefulness, President Donald Trump shared that the individual credited television with his preparation. “He said he watches it a lot and he learned from watching that show sort of how to fly,” President Donald Trump said, referencing the show “Air Disasters.”
