Etihad Rail has introduced more than 2,000 additional tickets across six extra train services connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the weekend. The announcement on Friday followed an exceptional early demand for the newly launched passenger rail route linking the UAE's major cities.
Alongside the initial 10 trains, three additional services will operate on both Saturday and Sunday, resulting in six train departures from Dubai and seven from Abu Dhabi. The weekend schedule features departures at 12:14 from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, 13:43 from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, and 16:43 from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.
President Sheikh Mohamed and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, recently attended the opening of Etihad Rail's Al Yalayis Station on Monday. Operational since September 30, the station provides direct access to the Dubai Metro Red Line via a 400-metre elevated pedestrian walkway, and is slated to become an interchange with the Gold Metro Line upon its opening in 2032.
Further network expansion is planned in the upcoming months, with new stations in the Al Dhafra region opening on November 30 and December 30. Additionally, the University City Station in Sharjah is scheduled to open on March 30, expanding connectivity across the Northern Emirates and reflecting strong public enthusiasm for rail travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
