Russia has issued a stern warning to the United Kingdom, stating it could face serious consequences for supplying drones to Ukraine that have been utilized in long-range strikes within Russian territory. According to a statement from the Russian embassy in London, the actions taken by London will inevitably carry repercussions, accusing the UK of acting as an accomplice in the conflict and deliberately opting for escalation.
Former Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Fedorov suggested in an interview with the BBC that these potential consequences could encompass actual attacks. He noted that certain military experts advising the Kremlin believe NATO might not mount a forceful response if Russia were to target the UK, claiming that Donald Trump would not permit NATO to retaliate.
The tension stems from recent reports indicating that Ukraine has deployed long-range drones, including those produced by two British companies, to strike key Russian infrastructure such as oil refineries, logistics facilities, and military-industrial sites like the Kamensky Plant in the Rostov region. Additionally, retail giant Wildberries warehouses in locations like Yekaterinburg and near Moscow have faced drone assaults, which Ukraine claims are used to supply Russian military components, though the company and the Kremlin deny these assertions.
Despite the warnings, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham affirmed that the government would maintain its 100 percent support for Ukraine, emphasizing that Britain stands firmly with Kyiv in the ongoing war initiated by Vladimir Putin. Other officials, including work and pensions minister Lilian Greenwood, reiterated that British resolve remains steadfast in providing necessary equipment to Ukraine, regardless of Moscow's threats.
While the Russian embassy did not specify the exact nature of the threatened consequences, experts point to potential options including targeted actions against British military or intelligence interests abroad, heightened cyberattacks, or broader hybrid warfare.
