President Sheikh Mohamed received a phone call from US President Donald Trump on Tuesday. During the conversation, the two leaders focused on enhancing co-operation and strengthening bilateral ties between their nations.

The discussion also covered the latest developments across the Middle East and ongoing efforts to address them. This comes as the US-Iran conflict persists, following the recent conclusion of a two-month window for peace talks that ended without making progress toward resolving the war. The US noted that Iran has been refusing concessions amid the diplomatic impasse.

Earlier on Monday, President Sheikh Mohamed met with Sultan Haitham of Oman in Abu Dhabi. Their talks centered on regional security, economic ties, and the importance of continued co-operation to tackle shared regional challenges and protect stability.

In a related development, the UAE Foreign Ministry strongly condemned an Iranian drone attack on Iraq's Kurdistan region on Tuesday. The strikes involved two explosives-laden drones targeting the office of Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the home of a senior security official in Erbil.

The ministry denounced the act as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as well as a severe threat to regional security. Launched from Iran’s border area shortly after midnight on Monday, the attacks resulted in no reported casualties or major damage, though Mr Barzani characterized the incident as a dangerous escalation.
