Egyptian Foreign Ministry Launches National ID Services for Expatriates Abroad

National identity card issuance teams officially commenced operations on Saturday, October 3, 2026, across multiple Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions abroad, including locations in Jordan, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, as announced by the Foreign Ministry.

A large number of Egyptians residing overseas visited these diplomatic and consular missions to issue, renew, or update their national identity cards. According to the Ministry, this initiative is a direct result of ongoing efforts to protect the interests and address the needs of Egyptian communities abroad, working in close coordination with the Civil Status Sector at the Interior Ministry.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Nader Zaki stated that the dedicated ID card issuance teams are scheduled to expand their operations to several other countries in the near future. The upcoming tour will include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, France, Italy, and Greece.

Zaki emphasized that these diplomatic visits are designed to fulfill the requirements of Egyptians living abroad and to successfully execute the resolutions established during the seventh edition of the Conference of Egyptians Abroad, which took place in Cairo in early August.

Furthermore, the spokesman strongly encouraged members of the Egyptian communities in the designated countries to reach out to their local Egyptian embassy or consulate immediately. Citizens were advised to inquire about necessary documentation and schedule appointments to ensure that the committees can efficiently process and issue cards for the maximum possible number of applicants.
