Voters in Bosnia and Herzegovina head to the polls for the 10th time since the conclusion of the war more than three decades ago. Citizens are casting ballots to elect more than 500 members into a complex government structure. While the Dayton Peace Accord successfully ended the conflict in 1995, deep political and ethnic divides continue to persist across the nation.
Some analysts suggest that this crucial vote could prove to be the most consequential since the original agreement was signed. As the region watches closely, questions remain regarding how the election will ultimately play out both locally in Bosnia and throughout the wider region.
