The Ministry of Transport recently reviewed the state's comprehensive plans to develop specialized human resources necessary for keeping pace with the rapid expansion of the transport sector and its growing infrastructure projects. This vision was presented during a World Bank-hosted workshop titled "Investing in Human Capital for the Future of Transport in Egypt: Moving Forward with the Vision of Establishing the Egyptian International University for Transport Engineering and Technology (ENUT)," which saw the attendance of South Korea’s ambassador to Egypt.

Discussions during the event focused on fostering cooperation with prominent Korean institutions, such as the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT), Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU), Korea National Railway, and Hyundai Rotem, alongside various international development partners.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the ministry highlighted that Egypt has invested over two trillion LE since 2014 toward developing and modernizing its overarching transport system, which spans roads, railways, public transport, ports, and logistics networks. To support this continued growth, the ministry is actively advancing the establishment of ENUT as a specialized academic institution.

The university is designed to merge academic education, technical and vocational training, applied research, innovation, and technology transfer. By doing so, it aims to cultivate specialists equipped to handle the current and future demands of Egypt's transport sector. Developed in partnership with the World Bank, the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF), and various Korean academic and technical partners, the project ultimately aspires to position ENUT as a premier regional center for transport education, training, applied research, and capacity building for Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.
