Dubai has introduced a novel accelerator programme aimed at integrating agentic artificial intelligence into government operations, marking a major milestone in the emirate's strategy to future-proof the public sector. Launched by the Dubai Future Foundation under the Dubai Future Accelerators initiative, the program empowers government entities to rapidly develop prototypes for AI-driven services.
During its initial phase, the accelerator will unite 33 Dubai government entities to evaluate more than 300 public-facing use cases, identifying those with the highest potential for agentic AI advancement. The initiative is spearheaded by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, working alongside Digital Dubai and the Dubai Electronic Security Centre. Participating organizations will collaborate with technology firms certified by the Dubai AI Seal.
Agentic AI represents an advanced class of autonomous artificial intelligence capable of functioning independently without constant human oversight. Unlike standard generative AI that reacts to prompts, agentic AI operates similarly to an independent project manager, breaking down goals, evaluating paths, and self-correcting in real time.
Hamad Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, noted that the project signifies a transition from merely responding to residents' needs to actively anticipating them. Meanwhile, Khalfan Belhoul, chief executive of the Dubai Future Foundation, emphasized that the launch supports directives from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed to establish Dubai as a global leader in agentic AI adoption across public services. Yousuf Al Shaibani, chief executive of the Dubai Electronic Security Centre, also stressed the critical importance of embedding cybersecurity at every stage of the AI integration process.
