Egyptian TV host Ahmed Moussa issued a stern message to Israel during his program “Ala Mas’ouleety” (On My Responsibility), warning that any recklessness or attempt to infringe upon Egypt’s territory could lead to a lesson greater than 1973. Speaking on Monday, Moussa stated that Egypt would not tolerate any violation of its territory or encroachment upon the Sinai Peninsula, emphasizing that the Egyptian state currently possesses the strength to safeguard its national security despite surrounding pressures and challenges.

Moussa's comments were in response to remarks made by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who warned on Monday that there would be no Sinai if Egypt were to move to attack Israel. Moussa fired back, stating that if the Zionist entity acts recklessly, it will spell its own end and that the ambitions of tyrants shatter at Egypt’s doorstep. He asserted that all 120 million Egyptians would die defending Egypt and that Israel would pay a heavy price for any step threatening Egyptian national security, adding that neither Smotrich nor any other nation could come near even a single inch of Sinai.

During the episode, Moussa recalled key moments from the October 1973 War, including the capture of Israeli soldiers by Egyptian forces, to discuss Egypt’s military capabilities and deterrence. He assured viewers that Egypt does not seek war and remains an advocate of peace, but stressed that peace does not mean abandoning the protection of Egyptian territory. These statements follow previous warnings issued by Moussa over the past few months, including in June, urging Israel not to test the capabilities of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

Egypt and Israel are bound by a 1979 peace treaty that ended the state of war between the two nations and established security arrangements in Sinai and along the border areas. While Cairo officially affirms its commitment to peace, it simultaneously emphasizes the unwavering protection of its sovereignty and national security.
