Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met with Fatah Central Committee Secretary-General Jibril Rajoub on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to discuss the unfolding situation in the Palestinian territories, focusing on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank alongside ongoing initiatives to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people.

During their talks, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Nader Zaki noted that Badr Abdelatty detailed current efforts to support the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan. He emphasized the critical need to fulfill all first-phase commitments, which include facilitating the steady delivery of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and promoting early recovery operations.

Badr Abdelatty also voiced strong condemnation regarding ongoing attacks by Israeli settlers directed at Palestinians and their properties throughout the West Bank, alongside a sharp rise in such violence. Furthermore, he denounced repeated incursions into the Al Aqsa Mosque compound and associated provocations, issuing a stern warning about the risks of these violations and efforts to disrupt the legal and historical status quo at Jerusalem's holy sites.

The discussion additionally highlighted the necessity of sustaining Palestinian national dialogue to foster internal unity. Talks centered on Egypt's diplomatic push to back institutional reforms, empower the Palestinian Authority, and enhance its administrative capacity across the West Bank and Gaza Strip. These measures aim to safeguard unified Palestinian leadership and institutions while laying the groundwork for an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, featuring East Jerusalem (Al Quds city) as its capital.
