The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced on Wednesday that recent attacks on Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport resulted in multiple casualties among citizens and foreign residents, with injuries varying from minor to severe, following Houthi aggression.
In an official statement, the authority detailed that on Tuesday and Wednesday, Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport were targeted in two separate assaults on their facilities. Emergency teams and competent authorities responded immediately in line with established procedures and emergency plans.
The statement confirmed that the attack on Abha International Airport caused two fatalities among female residents of Moroccan and Algerian nationalities, alongside 28 injuries among citizens and two foreign residents from Bangladesh and the Philippines. Meanwhile, the assault on King Khalid International Airport led to one fatality involving a Sudanese resident, as well as eight injuries consisting of five citizens, two Egyptian nationals, and one Pakistani resident.
All injured individuals were swiftly transported to local hospitals for necessary medical treatment. The incidents also caused localized material damage to the airport facilities.
GACA stated that it is maintaining close coordination with relevant security agencies to fully assess the damages and implement all required measures to safeguard passengers, personnel, and the overall civil aviation system within the Kingdom.
