The United Arab Emarites (UAE) has decided to suspend all trade, financial, and commercial activities with Iran until further notice, citing a regional escalation that Abu Dhabi asserts has undermined the peace and security of the region and beyond.

This decisive step follows an announcement by the UAE Ministry of Defense on Tuesday evening reporting that its air defense systems successfully detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran. According to the ministry, the first missile landed outside the UAE’s territorial waters, while the second impacted within its territorial waters.

Afra al-Hameli, the Director of Strategic Communications at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the UAE denies all allegations circulating regarding the nature of its economic relationship with Iran. She emphasized that the nation remains committed to dialogue, cooperation, and regional integration as fundamental pillars for establishing peace, promoting stability, and fostering prosperity.

Al-Hameli explained that the suspension of trade and financial transactions was enacted in response to regional escalation and its direct repercussions on security and stability. She confirmed the measure will stay in effect until further notice while reiterating the UAE's dedication to preserving the integrity of the international financial system in accordance with international law and global standards.
