Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has officially denied circulating rumors about a potential 35 percent increase in mobile and internet service prices, clarifying that no such decision has been made.
Speaking on Tuesday, NTRA spokesperson Mohamed Ibrahim dismissed the widely shared reports as incorrect, according to RT. He noted that the regulatory body is actively monitoring misinformation concerning telecommunications pricing and underscored that any official adjustments will only be communicated through formal channels.
Ibrahim stated that should any price revision be approved, an official statement would be released by the NTRA detailing the specific percentage, rationale, and implementation details. He also urged the public to rely exclusively on verified sources for updates regarding service rates, amidst growing public sensitivity toward communication costs and the rising dependence on digital networks in Egypt.
