The Dar al-Salam District Headquarters in Cairo has announced the implementation of strict new measures to regulate Tuk-tuk traffic starting Saturday, October 10. These new regulations include banning the vehicles from operating on several major roads and thoroughfares within the district in an ongoing effort to reduce traffic congestion and maintain order on the streets.

According to the district administration, the official ban applies to several key locations, including the Nile Corniche, the Service Road (slow lane), the Ring Road, the Cairo-Helwan Agricultural Road, and the Fayoum Road. Ahead of this rollout, the administration conducted awareness campaigns targeting Tuk-tuk drivers to inform them of the restricted routes and emphasize the importance of compliance.

Authorities confirmed that violating this decision will result in the immediate confiscation of any Tuk-tuk found operating on the designated roads. These penalties also apply to Tuk-tuk vehicles driving against the flow of traffic, supporting broader goals to curb traffic violations, ensure public safety, and maintain smooth traffic flow.

The district administration strongly urged all Tuk-tuk drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and guidelines. Officials also emphasized the need to raise awareness among drivers—particularly those under the age of 18—regarding the necessity of respecting traffic rules and cooperating with competent authorities.
