Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy attended the opening ceremony of the WTTC’s 26th Global Summit in Valletta, the capital of Malta, which took place under the theme “FUTU[RE]SET”. During a panel discussion focused on public-private partnerships as a driver for growth, moderated by journalist Richard Quest alongside tourism ministers from Malta, Croatia, South Africa, and Turkey, Fathy stated that Egypt holds the necessary potential to multiply its current visitor numbers.
Highlighting Egypt's diverse tourism offerings, strong infrastructure, and deep cultural heritage, the minister pointed out that modern marketing techniques, artificial intelligence tools, and robust industry partnerships are essential priorities. Fathy explained that the Egyptian state prioritizes the tourism and antiquities sectors on its national agenda due to their vital contributions to the economy, job creation, and investment attraction.
Regarding sustainability, Fathy emphasized that environmental protection and eco-friendly initiatives form foundational elements of the ministry's long-term plan. He concluded by noting that strong cooperation between the government and the private sector acts as the main driver for unlocking Egypt's full tourism capacity and improving service standards. The summit brought together tourism ministers, members of the European Parliament, and leaders from international tourism companies.
