Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly received Moustafa Shekhon, following President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s decision to appoint him chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), alongside outgoing chairman Walid Gamal al-Din, as part of the formal handover ceremony.

At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly expressed gratitude for the national contributions made by Walid Gamal al-Din during his tenure, particularly in establishing the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a premier destination for global investment and an integrated hub for industrial localization and logistics. He emphasized the zone's advanced infrastructure, utilities, energy availability, and skilled workforce.

Welcoming Moustafa Shekhon to his new role, the prime minister wished him success in furthering the development of the Suez Canal Economic Zone and capitalizing on its strategic location linking Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Moustafa Shekhon thanked the leadership, describing the transition as a testament to institutional continuity. He outlined his focus on attracting investments, facilitating goods movement, expanding industrial localization, and creating jobs for Egyptian youth.

Reflecting on his tenure, Walid Gamal al-Din thanked President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, noting that the authority secured approximately US$16.4 billion in investments and allocated around 21.3 million square meters of land for projects despite global challenges.
