Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman met with high-ranking Qatari officials during his recent visit to the Gulf state, focusing on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani hosted Rahman in Doha on Wednesday. During their talks, Sheikh Mohammed extended his congratulations to Rahman on his election to lead the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, wishing him success in the upcoming role.
The two leaders reviewed the existing relations between Qatar and Bangladesh, exploring new avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation. They also discussed pressing regional and international developments, alongside various matters of mutual concern.
Additionally, conversations touched upon the ongoing cooperation between Qatar and the United Nations, particularly concerning global challenges such as peacebuilding, sustainable development, and climate change.
Earlier in the week on Tuesday, Qatar’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Al Kuwari also met with Rahman at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Doha to discuss expanding financial and economic cooperation between the two nations ahead of Rahman's UN tenure.
