Apple has launched HomeView, a new device designed to assist users at home with its artificial intelligence-driven Siri and an intuitive interface. A demonstration video shared by Apple showcases a family utilizing the device for tasks like answering questions, making calls, and setting reminders. In the video, a woman asks HomeView, “Siri, ping me my keys,” which then prompts her keys to beep, likely with the assistance of Apple's AirTag. Apple has stated that HomeView will initially be available only in English. The device is set to launch on November 13, with prices starting at $299. Consumers will have two choices: a model for surfaces and a wall-mountable version. Prior to this announcement, Anshika Jain, principal analyst at Counterpoint, commented that such a device would bolster Apple's consumer product line. Ms. Jain noted, “The upcoming display-based device could become a central interface for controlling smart home products, accessing content and services, and interacting with Apple’s AI capabilities, potentially giving Apple a stronger foothold in the smart home ecosystem.” Apple also appears keen on enabling third-party device compatibility with HomeView. The company announced, “Designed in collaboration with Apple and select brands, Apple Home Collection accessories – including smart cameras, thermostats and a door lock – are simple to set up, easy to use, and private with data that’s encrypted end-to-end in Apple Home.” These accessories are slated for release at a later date. Apple is positioning HomeView as a seamless part of daily life, describing it as a device that “does the heavy lifting when you’re busy around the house.” The company further stated, “And with a vibrant display and powerful acoustics, your music, videos and calls look and sound amazing … meet the new heart of your home.” The initial global availability of HomeView was not immediately specified.
Additionally, Apple announced an update to its HomePod mini speaker devices. The company stated, “Siri on HomePod mini 2 puts a powerful, AI assistant right at the centre of your home.” It further explained, “Once set up with your iPhone or iPad, Siri draws on broad world knowledge and your personal context to help you find what you need and get more done every day.” The HomePod 2 will be available starting October 30, with prices beginning at $149. Apple highlighted improvements such as enhanced sound, touch controls, a new mesh design, and a woven power cord for the HomePod. Ms. Jain commented, “With Apple Intelligence and a more capable Siri, the company is positioning HomePod as an entry point into an AI-powered home ecosystem.” She added, “Still, shipment growth is likely to remain modest in low single digits YoY [year over year] as the market continues to face saturation and longer replacement cycles.”
Apple also revealed the updated Apple TV 4K, marking the first refresh for its TV console in several years. The new Apple TV 4K is equipped with an A19 processor for 4K video quality and includes a Siri remote. It will be available on November 13, with prices starting at $299. Apple described the device as offering “the ultimate cinematic experience, from shows and movies to games and workouts.” The company also noted, “With the new, more powerful Siri AI and built-in microphones, enjoying what you love is as easy as using your voice.”
