An Israeli air strike on a vehicle in Gaza City has resulted in one fatality and several injuries, according to emergency services speaking to Al Jazeera. This incident occurs as Israeli attacks persist, a year after a ceasefire was established. The strike targeted the Tuffah neighborhood in the city's northeast on Tuesday. In az-Zawayda, central Gaza, a four-year-old boy named Osama Ahmed Abed succumbed to wounds sustained in an Israeli attack three weeks prior, as reported by the Palestinian news agency Wafa. His death raises the total number of Palestinians killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, to over 74,382.
Gaza’s Civil Defence agency has expressed grave concern over repeated forced displacement near the “Yellow Line,” the demarcation established by the October 2025 ceasefire, which marked the initial withdrawal of Israeli troops. The agency reported that “massive explosions” and “indiscriminate gunfire” from Israeli forces have damaged hundreds of tents belonging to displaced individuals and weakened previously struck homes. They have appealed for urgent intervention to “halt this war against the civilian population.”
Analysis of Al Jazeera’s maps indicates that nearly two-thirds of Gaza is currently under Israeli military control or subject to access restrictions. The “Yellow Line,” established under a 20-point plan by US President Donald Trump aimed at ending the conflict, was intended to signify the initial pullback of Israeli forces, with further withdrawals anticipated. However, Israeli forces have instead expanded their territorial control. The US-backed Board of Peace commemorated the ceasefire’s anniversary with a statement attributing the end of the seemingly endless war to Trump’s leadership. Since the truce began, at least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, and no Palestinian technocratic administration has been put in place. More than 80 percent of Gaza’s buildings have suffered destruction or damage.
In parallel, Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, specifically in Ramallah and el-Bireh, have led to injuries. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that a child was wounded by live ammunition, and several Palestinians suffered from tear gas inhalation. Palestine TV correspondent Khaled Mattawa sustained a hand injury from a sound bomb, while Sky News Arabia correspondent Firas Lutfi was hit in the leg by shrapnel, according to Wafa. Israeli forces also conducted raids on the offices of several Palestinian non-governmental organizations and the courtyard of the Palestine Medical Complex.
Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim, reporting from Ramallah, described these attacks as “yet another step to undermine the Palestinian Authority.” Human rights lawyer Muhammad Dahleh stated that Israel employs laws and military orders to dismantle Palestinian rights groups, labeling them “terrorist organisations based on privileged evidence” that is kept from the groups and their legal representatives. Several organizations were outlawed in 2021, with Israeli military authorities rejecting legal objections. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted in a video posted on X that Israel is “preparing for a scenario in which Palestinian Authority forces turn their guns against Israel in the West Bank,” declaring, “There will be no Arab army west of the Jordan River. There will be the [Israeli military],” and indicating an extension of Israeli control over the territory.
