Dubai's beloved Global Village has officially opened its doors for its 31st season, promising an even more spectacular experience for visitors. This year's iteration boasts an array of new culinary delights, captivating live performances, and the highly anticipated addition of a roller coaster. The expansive outdoor destination welcomed guests starting Wednesday and is set to continue its festivities until May 2027.
Operating under the theme "A More Wonderful World," the current season showcases 29 distinct pavilions, each representing over 90 different cultures. Attendees can explore more than 3,500 retail outlets and indulge in over 250 diverse dining options. The opening night was a grand affair, featuring a choir performance, the vibrant Parade of the World, and the signature confetti shower at the Gate of the World. A dazzling drone display, comprising 600 drones, also illuminated the sky to mark the commencement of the season.
Among the exciting new additions is "Tokyo Rush," a thrilling roller coaster slated for a later release in the season, promising sharp turns and an exhilarating loop. This new ride will complement existing attractions such as Dragon Kingdom, The Horror Hotel, Secrets of the Lost City, and Exo Planet City. The iconic Festival Wheel makes a comeback with upgraded carts offering panoramic views of the entire village. Additionally, the Gardens of the World have been refreshed, and visitors will discover enhanced experiences within the Sri Lanka pavilion, as well as the Russia and Azerbaijan pavilion. The Syria and Kuwait pavilions have also received new, striking facades.
To deepen visitor engagement, a redesigned Season 31 Passport and a new Kids Passport have been introduced, allowing guests to collect stamps as they journey through the various pavilions. Fernando Eiroa, chief executive of Dubai Holding Entertainment, commented on the significance of Global Village, stating, "Global Village holds a special place in people’s lives because of the connections they make here, with their own roots, with other cultures and the people they visit alongside. It has become a much-loved tradition for families and friends, reflecting the welcoming, multicultural spirit of the UAE."
The Restaurant Plaza, strategically located beside Carnaval and overlooking the Falcon Stage, now features several new dining establishments. These include Trabzon Turkish Restaurant, Robo Al Sham, Hawawshi Al Rabie, and Chicking. Complementing these are new cafes such as Vinci Dolci, Emir Bey Gourmet, and Uzungol Cafe. Dessert District also returns with a revitalized facade and an enticing selection of sweet treats. These new venues expand the already vast culinary landscape, which offers over 250 options ranging from international street food to fine dining restaurants and cozy cafes.
Global Village is set to host an impressive 40,000 shows throughout the season, encompassing a wide spectrum of entertainment including music, dance, acrobatics, and family-friendly performances. New productions making their debut include "Fast Live 2: The Police Strike Back," a high-octane stunt show featuring impressive driving maneuvers and action sequences. "Bollywood Idol" and "Bank Heist" are also joining the entertainment lineup, alongside the returning crowd-pleaser "Slam." For the younger audience, beloved characters from "Care Bears" and "PJ Masks" will make appearances at the Kids Theatre.
Enhancements to visitor facilities include a new self-payment system for VIP parking, improved directional signage throughout the venue, and expanded ticketing capacity at the Happiness Gate. Additional family washrooms have been introduced, including facilities specifically designed for people of determination. Other notable updates comprise bilingual signage at the Gate of the World, upgraded lighting at the Cultural Gate, and a new thematic design for the Sharjah tunnel. A new WhatsApp chatbot has also been launched to provide visitors with instant information and assistance during their visit.
