Egypt Braces for Temperature Drop and Dust Storms on Thursday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a weather warning for Thursday, forecasting a significant temperature drop of up to four degrees Celsius across most of the country. This follows a brief warm spell experienced on Wednesday. Greater Cairo is expected to see a daytime high of 28C.

Mahmoud Shaheen, Director-General of the Forecasting and Early Warning Department at the EMA, indicated that there is a possibility of rainfall along the northwestern coasts and in the northern Lower Egypt governorates. He also cautioned about seasonal colds as Egypt transitions from summer to winter, advising citizens to wear appropriate clothing, especially during late-night and early-morning hours, and to consider a light jacket for children and the elderly.

Furthermore, Shaheen warned of active winds, with speeds ranging from 30-40 km/h, expected in several regions. These winds are predicted to cause sand and dust to be stirred up across the northwestern coasts, Lower Egypt, Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, and parts of the Western Desert.

The EMA is urging the public to take all necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of these anticipated weather conditions and to remain informed by following the latest weather bulletins.
