National Council for Women Champions Economic Empowerment and Robust Social Protection for Rural Development

The National Council for Women (NCW) has emphasized the critical need to broaden rural development initiatives and transition from direct aid to sustainable economic empowerment. This call to action was made during a preparatory session for the Cabinet held on Friday, October 16, 2026.

In anticipation of the upcoming “Egypt Forum 2026,” scheduled from October 19–24, NCW Vice President Nesreen al-Baghdadi urged for increased private-sector engagement in village development projects. She also advocated for the establishment of comprehensive social protection databases to streamline support systems.

Furthermore, al-Baghdadi stressed the importance of supporting foster families and enhancing elderly care services as key strategies to bolster family stability. The session also spotlighted the role of digital transformation, improved coordination with civil society organizations, and the creation of sustainable job opportunities as vital components in fostering self-reliance among vulnerable households.
