SWS Board Technology, a Dubai-based manufacturer that has achieved a remarkable production volume, accounting for nearly half of the world's kiteboards and wakeboards, has been honored with a prestigious award for economic achievement. The company was presented with the Dubai-it Award in the economy category by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence. Established by Rainier Nouhra, SWS Board Technology is responsible for manufacturing approximately one-third of the global snowboard supply and close to half of the world's kiteboards and wakeboards, boasting an annual production capacity exceeding 450,000 boards. The company's products have reached international markets, with over six million boards sold globally, and have been featured in competitions such as the Winter Olympic Games. Mr. Nouhra leveraged his engineering expertise and experience in composite manufacturing to build the business in Dubai, prioritizing investment in research and development to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency. SWS Board Technology has successfully developed an integrated industrial chain that encompasses research, engineering, production, quality control, and global distribution, positioning itself as a key partner for leading snow and water sports brands. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that this accomplishment underscores Dubai's ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities in unexpected sectors. "Who would have imagined that one of the world's largest snowboard manufacturing operations would emerge from a city that was once desert? This is Dubai-it, seeing opportunity where others least expect it, and turning it into extraordinary achievement, with excellence in record time," he remarked. Furthermore, SWS Board Technology has implemented programs to recycle approximately 95 percent of a board's materials for the manufacturing of new ones, actively contributing to the circular economy. Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Executive Office of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, noted that the award celebrates a project that originated in Dubai and has since achieved global market dominance in an industry where the region previously had minimal presence.
