Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, aged 36, narrowly escaped a shooting incident in Mumbai on Sunday evening, October 18. Gunmen opened fire on his car in the Juhu district, leaving two individuals injured. Authorities are currently investigating claims that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a criminal network with prior links to threats against Bollywood personalities, may be responsible for the attack.
Tiger Shroff, born Jai Hemant Shroff in 1990, is the son of veteran Bollywood star Jackie Shroff and film producer Ayesha Shroff. He made his acting debut in the 2014 romantic-action film Heropanti and gained recognition for his proficiency in martial arts, his elaborate stunt sequences, and his dance performances. His notable filmography includes the Baaghi franchise, the action film War alongside Hrithik Roshan, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Akshay Kumar. His most recent film release was Baaghi 4 in 2025.
Shroff has also undertaken filming projects in the UAE. His 2022 action film Heropanti 2, which also featured Tara Sutaria and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, had portions shot in Dubai and Al Ain. The production involved filming at Telal Resort Al Ain, situated on the outskirts of the city, with Shroff and Sutaria visiting the location in February 2022.
The shooting occurred around 7 pm near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu as Shroff was en route home after a football match. According to police reports, three assailants on a motorcycle approached the actor's vehicle, with two of them discharging firearms before fleeing the scene. Shroff emerged from the incident without significant injuries, though some reports indicated minor abrasions. His driver sustained a gunshot wound to the hand, and another nearby driver was also injured. Both received medical attention at a hospital. Videos that have surfaced online appear to capture the attackers firing at Shroff's car.
Two individuals, identifying themselves as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, have reportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting, asserting connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This criminal network, named after the incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has a history of issuing threats against Bollywood figures, notably Salman Khan. A message purportedly circulated online post-shooting reportedly warned film industry members against collaborating with Khan, suggesting a potential motive for the attack. However, law enforcement has not yet definitively identified the perpetrators or verified the claims made on behalf of the gang.
Mumbai police have established 15 investigation teams to probe the shooting. These teams are examining CCTV footage and tracing the movements of the attackers. A motorcycle, believed to have been used in the escape, has reportedly been recovered near Andheri railway station. One individual has reportedly been detained for questioning, though the identities of those responsible remain unconfirmed by the police. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
