Despite the widespread protests and arrests, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has confirmed that the match will not be postponed or cancelled. Lecornu announced on Monday that regional authorities have been instructed to implement localized and partial curfews in certain cities to safeguard businesses, following weekend demonstrations that escalated into severe street violence. "These curfews must be local and partial. It is out of the question to put all of Paris under curfew," he stated. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez also affirmed at the same press conference that there were no plans to cancel the match.
Authorities have arrested approximately 2,400 individuals across France after violent clashes between protestors and police, and looting of shops, occurred during nationwide demonstrations against the rising cost of living and educational conditions, which drew hundreds of thousands of participants.
