Sharjah's police chief has issued a statement to reassure residents following numerous reports of an unusual and strong smell, described as similar to fuel or gas, spreading across parts of Sharjah and Dubai. Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Amer addressed the public on Sharjah's Direct Line radio programme on Tuesday afternoon, stating that the situation is stable and poses no threat.

While the cause of the odor remains unconfirmed by Sharjah Police, Lt Gen bin Amer acknowledged the public's concerns. "We have noted complaints from some members of the public about odours spreading across Sharjah and neighbouring emirates," he said. "We would like to reassure the public that the situation is safe and stable and that there is nothing posing a threat."

He further added that relevant federal authorities are actively investigating the matter and that updates will be provided as they become available. Dubai Police and the emirate's municipality have also been contacted for comment regarding the widespread reports.
