A devastating collision between a tourist bus and a truck on the Assiut Western Desert Road, near Tamia in the Faiyum Governorate, has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with 12 people confirmed dead and 30 others injured. Emergency services, including ambulance crews and relevant authorities, responded swiftly to the scene to provide aid and manage the aftermath of the crash.

Initial reports suggest the incident occurred when the tourist bus, en route from Upper Egypt, collided with a stationary truck. The force of the impact was so severe that it reportedly tore the bus in half. Traffic police preliminary assessments indicate potential driver inattention as a contributing factor, though the definitive cause remains under investigation pending further technical inspections and formal inquiries by competent authorities.

Ambulances were dispatched to the Asyut Western Road, transporting the injured to hospitals for urgent medical attention. The deceased were moved to the morgue to await further proceedings by the Public Prosecution. Officials from the General Directorate of Traffic were also present to oversee the scene, clear the wreckage, and restore traffic flow.

The Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, has been closely monitoring the situation, issuing directives to ensure comprehensive care for the injured, place nearby hospitals on high alert, and provide all necessary medical support. The Egyptian Ambulance Authority deployed 28 ambulances, and 30 injured individuals were taken to the 6th of October Central Hospital. Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy is also following the developments, ordering continuous monitoring and the provision of support, relief interventions, and urgent financial aid to those affected.

The Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), Islam Azzam, extended his condolences and instructed the Egyptian Compulsory Insurance Pool for Motor Vehicles to expedite compensation procedures for the victims and their families.
