Saudi Arabia has issued an urgent directive prohibiting the filming or documenting of attacks against the country and their impact sites. The General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense announced on the X platform that such actions, including sharing related information, will result in legal liability.
This announcement follows recent incidents where facilities belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco, majority-owned by the Saudi state, have been targeted. Flames were seen at an Aramco facility south of Riyadh on October 3, 2026, amidst ongoing attacks attributed to Houthi authorities as part of the war in Yemen.
Earlier on Saturday, Saudi Civil Defense had reported that the immediate threat had passed for the governorates of Taif, Jeddah, and Yanbu, as well as the Makkah region. Despite the lifted threat, residents were urged to continue adhering to safety instructions and to strictly avoid crowds and photography.
