President Abdel Fattah Sisi graced the closing ceremony of the Egypt Forum 2026 on Saturday, an event that showcased the nation's developmental progress, addressed economic and energy challenges, and explored the aspirations of young Egyptians. The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a documentary, "What Took Place at the Forum," summarizing the key discussions and ideas presented. President Sisi also met with Mahmoud Mohamed, a young man with hearing and speech disabilities who had expressed a desire to meet the president in a film shown during the opening, and Talia, a young girl who performed with the opening ceremony choir.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly delivered a presentation that began with a historical overview of Egypt's major developments from 2011 to 2014. He then presented an interactive map detailing projects and achievements from 2014 to 2026. Concluding his presentation, Madbouly presented President Sisi with a book documenting the country's achievements over the past 12 years.
The second segment of the ceremony featured a presentation titled "The Journey," which reviewed state-building efforts and development projects across various sectors. An economic commentator then discussed the challenges facing the energy sector, considering recent regional crises and their economic impacts. Three young influencers also highlighted key recent achievements in their respective fields. A film, "The Dream of a Generation," presented the aspirations of children under 13 from Generation Alpha for Egypt's future.
Prime Minister Madbouly subsequently announced the outcomes of the Egypt Forum 2026. Following this, President Sisi invited former Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker to detail achievements in the energy sector during a critical and record-breaking period. Shaker emphasized President Sisi's crucial role in overcoming an energy crisis, securing favorable international prices, and resolving electricity shortages.
The presidential spokesperson noted that the ceremony also featured success stories of Egyptians who have gained international recognition. President Sisi joined them for a group photograph. In his address, President Sisi reflected on the forum's discussions, stating, "Over the past few days of this Forum, we have together witnessed chapters of our nation’s journey. We have spoken extensively about Egypt; about a reality we live with all its challenges; about truths we sought to lay bare before you with complete transparency and clarity; about a State whose protection commands our every effort to solidify its foundation and safeguard its resources and national assets; and about a bright future, by the grace of Allah Almighty, to which we aspire and toward which we work with unwavering resolve and steadfast devotion."
He continued, "Through figures and facts, we reviewed the unprecedented achievements realized across our homeland, attainments that previously would have required long decades to accomplish." He emphasized the constructive dialogue held during the forum, stating, "Together, we engaged in a rich, constructive dialogue, giving full weight to views, proposals, and ideas that contribute to shaping a vision for the future of this nation."
President Sisi explained his motivation for convening the forum: "I was keen to convene this Forum so that everyone may fully grasp the magnitude of the effort exerted, and continuing to be exerted, for Egypt, alongside our future aspirations within a collective framework that holds each and every one of us accountable to our responsibilities. For this nation belongs to all its sons and daughters, and upon every citizen rests the grave duty to safeguard it, preserve its stability, and chart its future."
Reflecting on the nation's journey, he posed two fundamental questions: "Why did we embark on this journey? And where do we seek to arrive?" He detailed the critical junctures Egypt faced since 2011, noting the state's near collapse. Upon assuming leadership in 2014, he stated, "we were confronted with a formidable challenge, unprecedented in both scale and complexity. We were called upon to fulfill the legitimate hopes and aspirations of the Egyptian people to preserve their State, and to confront heinous terrorism and plots targeting the very existence of the State itself." This was compounded by the need to manage a great nation, rebuild infrastructure, upgrade public services, address inherited crises, and reform the administrative apparatus, all while restoring trust in state institutions.
President Sisi highlighted the choice made to confront chronic problems and address challenges comprehensively, rather than merely managing crises. "We chose the harder path. We did not possess the luxury of waiting or postponing tough decisions. We chose, with Almighty Allah’s support and the unwavering will of this great nation, to confront, to reform, and to build." He acknowledged the significant burden on Egyptian citizens, expressing profound appreciation for their patience and steadfastness, calling them the "true cornerstone of this journey of development."
He reaffirmed the indivisible entity of the state, government, and people, warning against attempts to portray state institutions as detached from the people's interests. The journey, he stressed, was not just about projects but about rebuilding the state's capacity and laying foundations for a renaissance impacting every Egyptian. The objective was to build a life that opens new horizons of hope, where infrastructure and development create opportunities and expand hope.
President Sisi emphasized the role of popular awareness as a bulwark of nations, stating, "Indeed, awareness is what enables us to comprehend the scale of our challenges relative to our available resources." He expressed confidence in divine observation of their efforts and intentions. He concluded by reiterating that the achievements in consolidating the national state and anchoring the pillars of the New Republic belong to the entire Egyptian people. He acknowledged that human endeavors involve lessons and challenges but affirmed sincere intentions to learn from them. He finally declared, "your awareness, steadfastness, and unity, Great People of Egypt, shall always remain the impenetrable fortress and first line of defense against all attempts to undermine the State or destabilize its security and stability."
