Indian Expat Wins Dh5 Million UAE Lottery Days Before 60th Birthday, Eyes Golden Visa

A long-time Sharjah resident, Kishore Pandurang Rao, an Indian national who has lived in the UAE for three decades, is celebrating a momentous Dh5 million win in the UAE Lottery. The life-changing prize was secured in the October 3 draw, just days before Mr. Rao's 60th birthday. He discovered his win through an email from The UAE Lottery, initially mistaking it for a routine verification notice.

"I was stunned. For some time, I just sat there without knowing what to say or do," Mr. Rao recounted, describing his shock upon realizing the magnitude of his win. His immediate plans involve supporting his family, including assisting his elder son in starting a business and funding his younger son's higher education. He also expressed a desire to reunite his family in the UAE, as they have spent time living apart.

Mr. Rao and his wife are considering purchasing homes and cars in both the UAE and India. He also intends to preserve their family home in India, a place of significant personal importance. "These are all plans, though, and I want to do them one at a time," he emphasized.

Beyond material possessions, Mr. Rao harbors a long-held aspiration to explore the possibility of obtaining a UAE Golden Visa. "After spending around 30 years in the country, the UAE means a great deal to me, so that is something I would really like to look into," he stated. While new car and home purchases are also on the horizon, he is committed to making thoughtful decisions rather than impulsive ones.

Having recently turned 60 and spent three decades working in the UAE, Mr. Rao views this win as the commencement of a new life chapter. His priorities now include spending more quality time with his wife and children, supporting their aspirations, traveling with his wife, and cherishing shared experiences that were previously limited by time constraints. "For me, the biggest change is really about what comes next and how we choose to spend that time together," he concluded.
