Parts of the UAE experienced hail and heavy rainfall on Tuesday afternoon, prompting authorities to issue a public alert for high winds and dust expected to last until the evening. The online weather tracking platform, Storm Centre, released footage showcasing hail and rain in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that wind speeds in some northern, eastern, and southern regions could reach up to 45kph, leading to increased dust and reduced visibility. This weather alert is in effect until at least 9pm and follows a period of unstable conditions, particularly affecting the Northern Emirates.
Forecasting models from the NCM indicate a likelihood of heavy rain in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Al Ain continuing through Thursday. Despite these autumn disturbances, temperatures are predicted to remain elevated across the Emirates in the coming days. Daytime temperatures in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to hover in the mid to high 30s for the next five days, with Al Ain and remote desert areas of Abu Dhabi potentially reaching 40°C.
The NCM's latest monthly weather summary indicates that the UAE's average daily temperature in October is typically 29.7°C. However, this month has seen a rise in temperatures, partly attributed to the El Nino weather phenomenon, which appears to be delaying the onset of the usual cooler autumn weather.
