British Airways has officially resumed its flight services connecting London Heathrow (LHR) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) following an eight-month suspension. This disruption was primarily attributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The inaugural flight, BA105, departed from London Heathrow on Tuesday evening at 8:08 PM local time, arriving in Dubai at 7:33 AM local time on Wednesday. The return journey, flight BA104, took off from Dubai at 9:45 AM local time on Wednesday, with its arrival in London scheduled for 2:36 PM local time.

Initially, the UK's flag carrier will operate one daily flight between these two major cities throughout the winter season. Plans are in place to increase this frequency to two daily services by the summer of 2027. The recommencement of British Airways' Dubai route signifies the return of a key international airline to the city after a prolonged period of air travel disruption across the region, stemming from the Iran war's escalation in late February.

The airline had previously slated the restart of its Dubai service for October 25, but this was subsequently postponed to November 3. Meanwhile, British Airways' services to Abu Dhabi remain suspended, with a resumption not anticipated until the winter 2027-2028 season. In other regional operations, BA's Doha service restarted on September 1, albeit at a reduced frequency of one flight per day, down from the previous twice-daily schedule. Flights to Tel Aviv resumed on October 25 with a single daily service, and Riyadh flights also restarted on November 3, operating once a day. Services to Amman are expected to recommence on November 4, with four flights weekly. Flights to Bahrain are set to remain suspended until the end of March 2027.

The return of British Airways coincides with other international airlines continuing to adapt their Middle East flight schedules amidst regional airspace restrictions and prevailing security concerns. Air France recently extended its Dubai flight suspension until November 7. Lufthansa, Swiss, and Eurowings are slated to resume their Dubai services on November 25, with Austrian Airlines following on December 12. Some carriers have pushed their return dates further into the following year. Singapore Airlines has extended its Dubai suspension until February 28, 2027, while Air Canada and the Dutch carrier KLM have cancelled services until the end of March 2027. Virgin Atlantic currently has no plans to resume its Dubai flights before October 2027.
